MAKING MEANING: THE BACKGROUND
Witchkiss plays groove-driven Doom Metal with a focus on the interplay between eerie female vocals and crushing growls. They’re from Hudson Valley, New York.
Witchkiss formed in 2017 and quickly released their full-length album, The Austere Curtain of our Eyes, on Argonauta Records in 2018. They’re working on material for their next album, to be released sometime in 2020. They have lots of Fall Tour dates around DOC III, including playing Stoned to Death Fest in October!
Witchkiss is: Amber Burns (drums, vocals), Tyler Irish (bass), and Scott Prater (guitar, vocals).

Scott Speaks
This is a new song. It was recorded and mixed by Mike Usifer at Beacon Soundworks and just mastered yesterday by Alan Douches at West West Side Studios. It is not yet released but we have been playing it live for a few months. The song was written by my wife Amber and I. Amber is the drummer and co-singer of Witchkiss.

We usually like to leave our songs to the listener to come up with their own meaning and maybe relate the lyrics to themselves….. but I will share the 4 simple lines of the chorus and tell you what this song means to me.
Woman / You / Woman / You are fire
Simply put, for me this song is about the inspiration and power that Amber gives to me. It represents the ever growing flame I have for her.
DESCENDANTS OF CROM III
We talked to Scott about playing at Descendants of Crom III. The Third Annual Descendants of Crom heavy music festival takes place in Pittsburgh, PA September 20 – 22, 2019.
How do you feel about playing DOC III?
We are beyond excited!
What can the audience expect from your performance?
Tinnitus and a Hell of a good time!
What other bands are you excited to see perform?
Everyone of course! Especially ASG and Valkyrie!
